Ryan and Shannon live in a beautiful home built on the same property as Ryan’s parent’s home, which means that two year old Maddie has a wonderful group of adoring family members orbiting around her on a daily basis. I’m pretty sure that suits her just fine! Storytime, baking, playing outside, storytime, stealing Grandad’s reading glasses, more storytime…she packed a lot into our afternoon family session.
What a loving, joyful family to spend time with. I love my job.
Mother’s Day will be here soon and as I considered which post to share with the moms and daughters of Johannesburg, Bobbi Lynn and Anaka’s mother daughter session was the first one to spring to mind. This was our second shoot together (they like to do one every year) and the love that they have for each other is a joy to capture on camera. Fun loving, cheeky (especially little Anaka!) and with a very special bond, they’re a tight knit team who clearly love doing life together. When Anaka is 45, I hope she’ll still be doing these special shoots with her mom.
Anaka designed her own dress from scratch and I arranged for an amazing dress designer to make it for her. I love the bohemian vibe that they brought to this shoot. Their care-free joy together totally suits the theme.
These are special moments that Anaka and Bobbi Lynn can treasure many years from now.
Have you considered treating your mom to a Mother’s Day shoot? It could be just the two of you or the whole family. Make a day of it. Pack a picnic full of mom’s favorite things (and some of yours), take her to her favorite outdoor spot, or even enjoy the comfort of your own back garden (mom loves home too), and let me come and take a few happy pictures that mom will cherish. It beats bath salts and a candle.
To make mom feel special on Mother’s Day, call or Whatsapp me on 0769075159 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and let’s create a photography gift pack that mom will love.
Happy Mother’s Day!
As soon as I pulled up the driveway at Juan and Nadine’s house, their rambunctious dogs made sure to remind me that they were as much a part of this family as anyone else (let’s not tell my husband that they jumped up on my car). So naturally, they had to be part of the shoot and made themselves very comfortable next to baby Hannah on the family bed for some family downtime (although you may want to look out for one particular shot of a very unimpressed Jack Russel. I’m not entirely sure what was going on there!).
Though Hannah was feeling a bit under the weather, she was a little trooper – smiling for mom and dad and eating whatever she could get her hands on (including plants).
The routines that make up your family’s everyday are precious moments to record. Hannah can look back one day and remember the way she used to chill on dad’s lap while drinking her bottle, the rocking chair that she and mommy used to snuggle together in, the sweet dogs that fussed over her. Photographing these moments brings me joy.
What special routines of the day would you like to remember?

The sun was just rising over the desert horizon, everything was still around us, soft music played in the background and Ben and Stephanie were enjoying being together as they anticipated the arrival of their little girl in a few weeks. Fast forward to a month later and I had the privilege of meeting baby Elara in her exquisite pink bedroom in the Dubai Marina. Like a continuation of our first shoot the light was soft, everything was quiet and now they could enjoy one another as a family of three.
